:( I officially have a BLOWN motor! I got the tranny straightened out and then I got the vaccum leaks strightened out, THEN as I was driving it home from the shop I lost oil pressure at 5000 rpm and you can probably guess what came after that! SOOOOOO, a 383 stroker sounds like it will be a perfect match for this car!

Its OK! I kinda call it a bummer cause I only had it back for two weeks before the motor went, BUT I WILL have a 383 stroker in it! But like everything else its all about how much time and money you have. Just give me some time and I WILL be hauling some serious A$$!!!!!:D

instead of getting a 3.750 stroke crank for a 383 get a 3.850 crank and .030 over will give you a 396" sb. Have to use a 5.7" rod to be able to clearence the block. Eagle cranks are the best 4 the cash. If you're gonna build, build it BIG. 396"sb will eat a 383 hands down :D

NOS wont kill your engine if your engine is built for NOS. Def dont want to go shooting that scrap in a stock engine.

I looked in to the 396 but its just a little to complicated for me. You run into the problem of the piston hitting the valve or something stupid like that. BUT I can def. build a 383 with no problem. Oh, and Greg, I would like to use the riding mower if I can.:D

there's a good bit of pistons off the shelf designed specifically for a 396sb. The wristpin is 0.125" higher in the piston than a 383 slug, the piston will be the same hight in the bore at tdc as a 383. But def build what YOU want, just sayin there is pistons av for it

I looked at the 396 pistons and I just didnt like the way that the rings went on with the wrist pin being up in the piston another .250.

i agree on that tho, it doesn't look like a good setup with the land crossing the pin for a daily car. Have to excuse me sometimes, i always think power first, streetability is somewhere in the small print on the back of the list. A 383 is one of the most versitile combos for a sb, deadly on street

Ive been thinking about a procharger for the 383, because I know a guy that can get me the charger and intercooler for about $3000, and I know that a 383 with a procharger on it would rock! BUT I have to decide what compression to go with, so I need to decide if Im going with the charger or all motor.
